Glad to be home

We have been home for a day now.  Yesterday when we got back, we returned the pickup truck, and drove back an hour to Fort Eustis to get every thing settled with the RV and to pick up Johns truck that he left there.  Well, everything worked out with the RV, I just have to wait until the Army gets it back and I can get my stuff from it.  But when John went to get his truck, someone put a huge big dent in the side door.  It almost looks like someone kicked it in.  Oh well, whatcha gonna do.

Since I have been back, I have been washing clothes, cleaning the spider webs from the corners, cleaning the kitchen, vaccuming the floors, and cleaning the pool.  So I have a little delima,,, Before we left I just placed my car keys on the counter.  John suggested that I shouldn't do that, it was an open invite for a theft to take the car... So he said I should hide them. Great. Now we are back and neither him nor I remember where we hid the keys.  I don't remember if he took them or if I put them somewhere.  The funny thing about it,,, the spare keys were just sitting in the kitchen draw.  So what good did it do for me to hide the keys.  I hid them so well, I can't even find them.

Now we are preparing for John to deploy on Monday, one more day with him and then it is 6 months of single parent hood, so nothing will be different for me. LOL.

Stuck in traffic

John had an idea to go to th phillies game that is in St. Louis. We figured it would be a good thing since we would be passing right thru an hour before the game starts. Game plan: get down to the stadium, park, eat, goto game... Well, once again the skies have openned up. the radio says this is the worst weather they have received in the downtown area in years. A building has collapsed, streets and interstates are flooded and cars are taking in water and can not get out..We are at a stand still on I64 trying to go over the Mississippi river. kids r hungry, we need a restroom stop. I don't want to stop with streets flooding and it's still raining.

headed straight for home.

Well, we did not stop at the water park. The kids were fighting too much. We are headed straight for home. We should be home in 2 days.

is the end near?

What a day. We woke up thinking we would just go get a continental breakfast really fast but the hotels breakfast was a sit down, we serve you. it was nice but it took a long time. We got on the road, drove for a few hours then stop at a rest stop just to go to the bathroom. When i got poor Matthew out he was soaked in pee. I gave him a quick bath in the sink. So on the road again for a few more hours. We lost an hour when we made it into Kansas and it was time for dinner. So we stopped again. Ate at a steak house, it was good. Then,,,started to drive our last leg of the day. John was so happy that we finally had flat straight land to drive on... So was the cop who clocked him going 87 in a 70. O well, guess we have to pay the $180 ticket. If we had the RV that would not have happened because the RV struggled to get to 70. So, we start to drive and would you know, the skys opened up and poured buckets of water on us. (remember we r in a pickup and our stuff in the back under a tarp). We stopped at MickeyD's for ice cream, hoping it would get better. As we drove it just got worst. It was soooo bad, John could not see. The lightening was sooo bad, we pulled off and called it the night. We pulled into the first hotel that had a covered entry. John went in to get a room. At that time lighnening struck, made the power go out for a little and all the outside lights went out. We sent the kids inside and as John and I were trying to get some of the things out the back.....it starts to hail. Only about nickel size hail... at this point I am done...well,clothes r wet, we are to far to make it early to the water park, the kids are all fighting.... what more? I think I better stop asking that question. lol ...good nite all, I am calling it the day.
